The Summer Camp Revolution Begins with you.
Note! I’m currently doing almost all of my Summer Camp related work (including blogging) over at Go Camp Pro. Hope to see you there.
My name is James Davis, and I suspect I’m a lot like you. Summer camp changed (saved?) my life, and I’ve dedicated my professional life to helping change summer camps for the better in return.
But if you’re like me, you’ve noticed a disquieting trend.
As each summer goes by, kids seem to be funneled into more and more things that take them away from these experiences that could set them up for a lifetime of happiness and satisfaction. Parents are signing them up for academic opportunities. Kids have an infinite number of technological options, and can spend all their free time with them with no problem at all. The ACA reported in 2013 that more than half of all camps are at less than 90% enrollment. This is a problem.
Kids who could experience camp, aren’t.
That’s why we’re here. We’re discovering ways to convince parents and kids that summer camp is not just delicious, but nutritious, too. We’re discovering ways to take advantage of an opportunity – as the rest of the world seeks to tell kids what to be, we’re helping them find out who they are.
If you’re like me, you got complacent. You never imagined a world where summer camp wouldn’t be an experience every kid would have. But here we are. If you’re like me, you’re ready to right the ship. You’re done blaming parents for not understanding the value of camp. You’re done blaming kids for not looking up from their iPads to give camp a try. You’re ready to discover the tools we need to give every single kid a summer camp experience. You’re ready to be a cutting-edge entrepreneur, a brilliant web-designer, a child development theorist, a marketing expert, and a loving companion to children.
You’re ready to show the world what happens when we, as summer camps, unleash the full force of what we can offer.
If you’re ready as I think you are – you’ll sign up for our free newsletter, and get the tools of the Summer Camp Revolution directly to your inbox.
